Atlantis Computing Makes Debut on Gartner Magic Quadrant for Integrated Systems
October 11, 2016
in the Forrester Wave: Hyperconverged Infrastructure report, Atlantis makes its debut on Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Integrated Systems with a placement in the niche category.
The report evaluated the hardware (server, network, and storage), operating system and virtualization software alongside any management tools and high-availability solutions. Vendors were weighed on completeness of vision on their current and future market direction and ability to execute on this vision.
Atlantis HyperScale hyperconverged appliances and Atlantis USX software-defined storage (SDS) solutions were recognized by Gartner for their respective strengths in pricing and data services that use in-memory in-line data deduplication and compression to both optimize storage capacity and improve performance. This efficient use of memory resources prior to writing data to flash storage is a key reason why our customers can increase effective all-flash capacity and boost performance by orders of magnitude, at a cost that’s often 50 to 90 percent less than competitive hyperconverged or external SAN solutions.
According to Gartner, Atlantis HyperScale provides all-flash advantages at a similar cost to disk-based HCIS appliances (i.e. under $200 per desktop). Atlantis can also manage multiple datacenters in a single management domain with no limit to the number of server nodes.
Meanwhile, Atlantis USX SDS technology allows users to build flexible hybrid storage volumes to storage media and RAM. We believe we’re the only HCIS vendor that allows customers to easily manage both HCIS and SDS solutions in a single pool of storage. For instance, an Atlantis HyperScale CX-4 appliance user at a remote site can replicate to a centralized data center to a storage system that’s SDS-based. Not having to install an identical integrated appliance just for HA and failover purposes can equate to a lot of savings and extend the life of existing IT investments.
Being named on the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Integrated Systems is yet another validation of our products and roadmap, showing that the industry is seeing the enormous value Atlantis brings to desktop and application virtualization solutions. Our position in the niche category highlights our long-standing strength and tight integration with VDI and workspace solutions. And as documented in a recent Storage Switzerland product spotlight, the integration of our “excellent hyperconverged offering with the various components of the virtual workspace allows organizations to rollout VDI faster and with greater success and long-term scale.”
We are proud of how far we have come and look forward to what’s ahead!
